How we teach
Our approach to teaching and learning complements the model of mainstream schools, with some carefully considered techniques to engage young people online.
Aside from our high-quality, DfE-accredited education, we place a strong emphasis on supporting students to connect with learning and improve their wellbeing and thinking skills, so where possible, they can return to mainstream education.
our teachers
Subject specialist teachers
Our fantastic teachers are fully UK qualified and DBS-checked.
Aside from being subject experts, they have extensive experience in teaching students who may have vulnerabilities or need additional support to continue their educational journeys.
Plus, all our teachers have experience and training in teaching in fully virtual environments. They leverage a variety of technology tools to make lessons interactive and personalised, keeping students engaged and motivated. They are experts at adaptive teaching and blending live teaching with ongoing assessment to build student confidence.
IMPROVING STUDENT ENGAGEMENT
How our teachers engage and motivate students to learn
100% live lessons, plus recordings
All lessons at Academy21 are in real-time, which helps create a truly immersive environment and facilitate communication between teachers and students. These lessons are also recorded, so students never have to miss out on learning, even if they are unwell.
Interactive learning opportunities
Students can interact with their teacher, and lesson content through polling tools, quizzes, written responses in chat pods, on mic or through whiteboards. They can also communicate directly with the teacher in a private chat pod if they feel more comfortable to do so.
Regular engagement monitoring
There is daily reporting on student’s effort, understanding, and engagement. These scores enable our teachers to identify areas where students may need more support and tailor their teaching methods accordingly. Students’ schools can access teacher feedback and regular reports via their Mentor Portal to easily view the student’s progress.
Personalised activities and support
Alongside their live lessons, your student will have access to a personalised pathway of learning activities tailored to their pace and progress. We also offer academic support courses to equip students with essential study skills, and pastoral courses to improve physical and mental wellbeing.
Our pedagogy
We are firm believers in the transformative power of education and the value of an integrated and holistic pedagogy. Quality of teaching and learning is therefore underpinned by our pedagogy, which focuses on acquiring powerful knowledge, developing transferable thinking skills, and building confidence in learning,
One of our key priorities is supporting students’ personal development and emotional and physical wellbeing. Aside from our high-quality, DfE-accredited education, we have a range of support tools and methods on offer for students to improve their wellbeing, develop their personal skills, and succeed in all aspects of life.
Quality teaching practices
Our teaching and learning practices are led by our Leadership team, including our Executive Head, and are supported by the wider governance for the Inspired group.
The practices we adopt are backed by our own extensive research and expertise, and they are frequently reviewed to ensure the highest standards of education delivery across all our courses.
We also invest heavily in the personal development of our staff, encouraging their personal and professional growth. This helps us continuously improve our teaching methods, course content, and student engagement strategies.
