How Can Academy21 Help?
Our provision can be initiated at the most appropriate time for any teenage mother when their pregnancy may being to prevent them attending school. Typically this will be in their third trimester, and post labour can be continued as they start to adapt to motherhood.
Access from Anywhere
Classes can be attended from any location where there is a broadband connection and computer. For teenage mums this will typically be from home both during and post pregnancy which removes the unnecessary stress, travel and organisation of attending their learning from school or centre.
Flexible Learning
We will work with each client to identify the best fit timetable. Following pregnancy this can of course change. Our timetable can then be amended to fit in with each new mum’s responsibilities, thereby supporting their ongoing attendance, engagement and progression.
Continuity of Provision
As a new mum there will clearly be times when they cannot attend their timetabled lesson. Our library recordings and online activities ensure that they can access their learning at the most appropriate time for them, to prevent any further gaps in learning.
Controlled Environment
Expectant and new teenage mums are in control of how and when they communicate within the classroom, with their peers and teachers. In class they are able to focus on their learning, be themselves and take part in group work with their fellow pupils.
Additional Support
Academy21 understands that expectant or new teenage mums may require additional support in their learning. All pupils can drop in every Friday morning at a time that suits them to get additional one to one and small group support with their learning.
Experienced Teachers
Over the years our teachers have worked with and supported many teenage mothers and so are fully empathetic of the challenges they face. We provide a positive, supportive and safe learning environment for expectant and new mum’s to realise their academic goals and achieve expected outcomes.
